Tip #1: First and foremost, mums should wear something that makes them feel beautiful and comfortable (after all.. you just had a little one!).  The best advice really is to keep it simple.

Tip #2: Decide on a color scheme that complements each other and the overall theme of the portrait. Instead of identical colours, opt for a range of shades and tones within the chosen color palette. Both parents in either dark tones or light-coloured clothing or bring both.

Tip #3: Use a dress from my client wardrobe. Have fun with this, why not make a costume change. One in your own clothes one in one of my dresses for two very different looks.

Tip #4: Wearing a simple, solid-colored dress or top is a beautiful option. Flowy and textured fabrics are flattering: plus, the movement in the fabric adds a feminine touch.

Tip#5: Is there a more compelling reason for mum to invest in professional hair and makeup than when preparing for a family portrait, which will be proudly displayed on your wall for years to come?

Tip#6: Dad wear a solid shirt that compliments mum’s top. Wear long pants and avoid shorts.

Tip #7: AVOID big printed patterns on tee-shirts – logos – brand names – images.
Try to go for plainer options if you can.

Tip #8: While it might be tempting and convenient to dress in the same outfits, going for a matchy-matchy look can diminish the uniqueness and individuality of each person. Instead, it is better to embrace similar color tones, allowing for a coordinated appearance without requiring everyone to wear precisely the same colours. This approach ensures that each individual’s personality and style shine through, making the portrait session more authentic and meaningful.

Tip #9: Take the time to choose your outfits carefully and it will make a dramatic difference to the end results.

Tip #10: Each family is unique and different.. so don’t be afraid to break “the rules.”  As long as you are comfortable and feel gorgeous, let your style shine through!
